This is the first English translation of Jiang Rongqiao's (Chiang Jung Chiao) famous text to be made available to the public. This is a complete translation containing both his rules on the fundamentals of Baguazhang and a movement by movement description of the postures and transitions of this most popular form. BGZ02 Classical Baguazhang Vol. II - CHENG SHI BAGUAZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-31-2) This book details Cheng Style Baguazhang from the traditions of Li Wenpiao and Cheng Youxin. Written by Ma Youqing and Liu Jingru, it is divided into two sections. The first section contains biographies of famous masters, the characteristics of Cheng Style Baguazhang, matters relating Baguazhang to health, and training requirements. The second section contains Baguazhang's fundamental skill methods, palm formations, and palm methods, along with Baguazhang's Eight Big Palms. The addenda contains essays by Master Ma Youqing on methods pertaining to Bagua fighting. BGZ03 Classical Baguazhang Vol. III - BAGUADAO (ISBN 1-929047-02-9) This book contains the complete set of one of the rare Bagua weapons, the Baguadao. The Baguadao, also known as the Bagua Big Broadsword, is an awesome weapon of self-defense. It is over four feet long, yet it is wielded as lightly and swiftly as a rapier. This set is a meld of two great systems, the Beijing Baguazhang of Dong Haichuan and the Yin Yang Ba Pan Zhang of Li Zhenqing. This is the first detailed description of a Bagua weapon written in the English language. BGZ04 Classical Baguazhang Vol. IV - WUDANG BAGUAZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-03-7) This book was written by Master Fei Yintao and his son Fei Yuliang. The first part consists of essays on the principles and theory of Baguazhang and guides to teaching and studying this wonderful art. The second part contains a pictorial description of Master Fei's style of Baguazhang. BGZ05 Classical Baguazhang Vol. V - YIN SHI BAGUAZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-50-9) This book was written by Zhang Lie. The first part consists of the theory and principles of Yin Fu Style Baguazhang. The second part consists of the Baguazhang 64 Forms and the Stretching the Tendons Maintenance Qigong. The 64 Forms is eight sets of eight palm changes. Sets 1,3, 5, and 7 concentrate on upper body techniques and sets 2, 4, 6, and 8 concentrate of kicking techniques. Stretching the Tendons Maintenance Qigong has nine palm changes designed for health maintenance. BGZ06 Classical Baguazhang Vol. VI - BAGUA QUAN XUE (ISBN 1-929047-05-3) This is now out of print. BGZ07 Classical Baguazhang Vol. VII - BAGUA QUAN ZHEN CHUAN (ISBN 1-929047-19-3) The Genuine Transmission of Bagua Quan by Sun Xikun is a masterpiece of information on the art of Baguazhang. BGZ08 Classical Baguazhang Vol. VIII - YU SHEN LIANHUAN BAGUAZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-07-X) Here at last is a reference text for Master Gao Yishengs system of Bagua written by Wen Zhongshi of Cangzhou in Hebei. The contents cover the Prenatal Palms, the 64 Postnatal Palms, and Sanshou of Master Gaos Bagua as it is taught in Cangzhou. BGZ09 Classical Baguazhang Vol. IX - YIN SHI BAGUA LIANHUAN ZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-08-8) This is another volume on Yin Fu Baguazhang by Zhu Baozhen. This lineage is from Yin Fus son-in-law He Jinkui. This volume contains basic skills, the 12 Connected Legs, post standing methods, 32 palms of Bagua Lianhuan Zhang and their applications. BGZ10 Classical Baguazhang Vol. X (Fu Shi) LONG XING BAGUAZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-15-0) This work is by Fu Yonghui, the son of the founder of Fu Sytle Baguazhang, Fu Zhensong. It contains chapters on the principles and characteristics of Baguazhang, Basic Skills, Fu Style Yang Palm, Dragon Form Baguazhang, and Bagua Pushing Hands. BGZ11 Classical Baguazhang Vol. XI YIN YANG BA PAN ZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-44-4) This is the classic work by Ren Zhicheng. It is the first book on this system and gives descriptions of the Eight Palms, fighting applications, special weapons and training information. The photos in the second edition are better than those in the first edition.. BGZ12 Classical Baguazhang Vol. XII WUDANG BAGUA LIANHUAN YUE (ISBN 1-929047-22-3) This is a translation of a series of magazine article by Huang Xin describing a tradition routine for the Bagua Yue or Deer Horn Knives. The routine is divided into eight sections, each section associated with one of the trigrams and its corresponding animal. The pictures are in cartoon form and easy to see. BGZ13 Classical Baguazhang Vol. XIII SUN STYLE BAGUAZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-38-X) This is a translation of a of Sun Lutang's two books on Baguazhang, Bagua Quan Xue (the Study of Bagua Boxing) and Bagua Jian Xue (the Study of Bagua Sword). Bagua Quan Xue is a new translation with copies of photos of Master Sun instead of drawings. Bagua Jian Xue is translated into English for the first time in this edition. BGZ14 Classical Baguazhang Vol. XIV YIN YUZHANG'S BAGUAZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-46-0) This is a translation of Yin Yuzhang's two books, Baguazhang Jian Lun (A Simple Book on Baguazhang) and Kan Dao Shu Lianxi Fa (Practice Method of the Chopping Saber Art). Both of these books were published by the Qingdao Martial Arts School in the 1930's. Yin Yuzhang is the son of the famous Bagua master Yin Fu. Baguazhang Jian Lun has descriptions of 8 palms from the Yin Fu system. Kan Dao Shu Lianxi Fa contains descriptions of two routines for practicing the two hand saber. This type of saber saw widespread use by the Chinese soldiers in World War II. BGZ15 Classical Baguazhang Vol. XV BAGUA ZHUAN JIAN (ISBN 1-929047-48-7) This is a translation of two works on Bagua Turning Sword. The first part is from Liu Xinghan's book You Shen Bagua Lianhuan Zhang. I learned a version of this form from Liu's student, Zhang Jie and I took the liberty of adding commentary here and there clarifying some of Liu's sparse text or indicating how what I learned differs from what is in Liu's book. The second part of the book is this same form, demonstrated by Huang Xin, a grand-student of Liu's. Again, there are some interesting differences in the performance of the routine. BGZ16 Classical Baguazhang Vol. XVI LONG XING BAGUAZHANG (ISBN 1-929047-53-3) This is a translation of Huang Bonian's famous text on Dragon Form Baguazhang. This book contains some tips on training Bagua, a description of his routine, and some tips on fighting. This book will be of interest to historians and students of Huang's lineage, but there is not much in this book for the beginner.
